With former Head Coach Tom Kharchi stepping down, the Warriors have been looking for the right person to take them forward into the 2019/20 season and foreseeable future. After receiving a lot of applications and interest for the position, we are delighted to announced that Coach Kieran Dunne has been appointed the new Head Coach of the program with immediate effect.
Coach Dunne has a long history associated with the Warriors programme, starting as a player from 2004 -2008, then moving into coaching upon graduating. Initially the Warriors LB coach in the 2008/09 season he quickly moved up the ranks and became a long-serving Defensive Coordinator from 2009 – 2015, culminating in an undefeated season and a Div.1 National Title. He is currently the Defensive Coordinator for the Sheffield Giants in the BAFA Adult Premier North League.
When asked what it means to be given the Head Coach role Coach Dunne had this to say, “It feels amazing to be back home where it all began for me in 2004, and to be returning as Head Coach of the Sheffield Hallam Warriors is nothing short of a dream. Being a Warrior truly is a mindset and in taking on this role I fully understand what is expected of me. I’m extremely proud and humbled to have been given this opportunity. I’m excited to work with this Tr1be of great student athletes, and our objective will be to take this club to the highest possible level and achievements in BUCS. I’d like to thank Richard Batty, Toby Chesters, David Saul and many more coaches/old boys for your support and guidance over the years. WPWP.”
Coach Dunne brings a valuable wealth of football knowledge and will instil discipline & accountability throughout the team, as well as the coaching staff, which will be vital in taking this team to the next level. We are excited with what the future holds under Coach Dunne.
Welcome home Coach!
