The Hallam Warriors this weekend extended their winning start to 3 and 0 for the season with a comprehensive 36-10 win over the Liverpool John Moore University Fury.
The game didn't get off to the best of starts for the hosts, with the Fury getting onto the scoreboard first through a passing touchdown. The kick was good, and Hallam had a game on their hands.
But before the first quarter was over, Hallam were back on level terms. Quarterback Ewan Chisholm connected with Dan Procter for a 4 yard touchdown after a strong drive down the field. Tom Martin successfully converted the PAT, and the scores were tied at 7-7.

Chisholm then connected with Alex Cooper for six more for the Warriors - the quarterback's sixth different receiver of touchdown passes. Hallam then ran a fake one point attempt and Luka Fadrique ran the ball in for 2. Hallam took a 15-7 lead in the game.
Shortly after, Procter once again found himself on the receiving end of a pass from Chisholm in the endzone for his third touchdown of the season. Martin send the kick through the posts for one more, and the Warriors were up by fifteen points.
And the momentum continued to swing in Hallam's favour, with Chisholm this time ending up in the endzone himself following a clear run behind good blocking from his offensive line.

A field goal from the visitors reduced the deficit to nineteen points at the half, with the score at 29-10.
The Hallam offence found scoring harder to come by after the half, only managing one more score before the time expired. But on the other side of the ball, Hallam's defence remained resolute, demonstrating why they are the number one defence in the division.
The defence restrained the Fury offence - who had scored an impressive 81 points over their previous three outings this season - to negligible yardage in the second half, with Jason Dankyi once again adding to his season's sack total and recovering a fumble in the process.

Quarterback Chisholm once more rushed the ball in for a touchdown - his fourth ground score of the season.
After the final whistle, the fourth year veteran was delighted with his team's performance: "There were good performances from both sides of the ball. On offence Dan Procter stepped up once again with two touchdowns, and the O-line blocked well all game. It was also nice to get Alex Cooper his first score for the team since switching to play wide receiver".
The Warriors have just six days to prepare for their next outing - a trip to Preston to take on the University of Central Lancashire Rams. The Rams were undefeated until their visit to the University of Sheffield Sabres on Sunday morning, but as the reigning divisional champions even following a loss only a fool would write off the side who have caused Hallam some problems over recent years.
Chisholm was positive about the up coming match up: "We're feeling good going into the UCLAN game. It's going to be a tough one as they're the current division champions, but confidence is high and we feel we can produce a winning performance".

The battle in the trenches is likely to be where the game is won or lost for Hallam in Lancashire. The Warriors' offensive line has come in to high praise in recent weeks, while the defensive line has been dominating in every outing so far this year.
It will be a battle of the unstoppable force against the immovable object - the Rams boast the top rated offence in the division, while the top seeded defence belongs to the visitors.
